HOW WE STARTED
Gene’s Health Food, a cornerstone of Owensboro, Kentucky’s health-conscious community, was founded by Gene Clark in October 1980. For over three decades, Gene dedicated himself to providing quality health products and fostering wellness in the area. In 2013, the legacy continued as his grandchildren, Karissa Costello and Andrew Keller, took ownership of the store, infusing it with renewed energy and commitment. Under their leadership, the store expanded its offerings, including the introduction of a 40-seat deli managed by Andrew, which features a diverse menu of organic and health-focused dishes. In 2018, Olivia Vancil joined as a partner, further enhancing the store’s mission to serve the community with fresh, organic food and a vibrant atmosphere. Demonstrating their innovative spirit, the team launched the “Fresh by Gene’s” food truck in 2016, bringing healthy and delicious options to various events and locations throughout Owensboro.
